Venice (Italy) limits tourist groups to 25 people and bans megaphones
Local authorities in Venice have limited tourist groups to 25 people and banned tour guides from using megaphones.
Exceptions to these travel regulations, which came into force on Thursday (August 1, 2024), include children under 2, students and educational tours.
Tourists and guides who violate the limit of 25 people per tour group, or use loudspeakers, could be fined US$50-100.
The rules also apply on the Venetian islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello.
The regulations are part of an effort by the local government to control over-tourism in the popular city after a record number of tourists were seen following the pandemic.
