The trail was closed in 2012 after a landslide injured four Australian tourists.

The alley is 800 meters long, carved on steep cliffs and has breathtaking views of the Ligurian Sea. Its construction began in 1920 and ended 11 years later.

Until 2012 it was one of the most popular sections of the 130 km network of trails that cross the "five lands" (Cinque Terre), connecting the multicolored medieval villages of Riomaggiore and Manarola.

The "five lands" (Cinque Terre) - Monterosso al Mare, Vernazzo, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore - are included in the Cinque Terre National Park, included in the UNESCO heritage.

Villages perched on cliffs attract millions of tourists from all over the world.

Visitors will be able to walk the Via dell'Amore trail starting July 27, 2024, by booking their ticket online or at the park's ticket offices.

To avoid overcrowding, a maximum of 400 people per hour are allowed.

Weddings with just a few guests and no refreshments are allowed from this summer, but more elaborate weddings will have to wait for next year's opening of the path's small amphitheater that doubles as a botanical garden.
